Just Because

New York

Many moons ago Brent and I went to New York. He had a work meeting and I tagged along. Mind you this was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I left my kids for two nights and flew far away from them. But I had sooooo much fun! I could never live there with kids and heaven forbid you should lose track of your child in Time Square but I loved visiting it. It really is the city that never sleeps and we were out walking around at all hours of the night. It was a much needed vacation and thanks to one of my wonderful sisters for watching my boys for us!
This is my, "You're taking too long to take the
picture and I look like a major dork." picture.
(And my, "I've been flying half the day and walking around the city
for the rest and I look like it." picture too)
At the World Trade Center Site
Being there and seeing the area surrounding where the towers stood brought back a lot of the images of September 11th. Seeing the streets people were running through to get away from the site brought back the feelings of fear I felt for them that day. The area where the buildings stood is massive and I can only imagine the destruction that day.

Momma Don't Play Favorites

Seth informed me this morning that the marble he swallowed was his favorite. What's he getting at?

So Spoiled

(P.S. I've decided to no longer apologize for a messy room in the background)

Party in Tampa

We headed over to Tampa this week to see Marilyn, Paul, and Kelsie.

A milestone was reached when Ian climbed out of the porta-crib. This is what we found when we headed to bed...
Ian fell in love with his cousin Kelsie...
And Seth got to ham it up in the pool...

She just finished having her dream house built and I have to repent due to envy. She is so talented that I left her with something to design a new bedroom for me around. And just so you know what I have to look forward to, this is her room...

Dear Seth

I'm sorry that I fast forwarded the movie everytime you went out of the room last night. I know the movie didn't make any sense, but I knew you were really tired.

Moving on

We finally moved out! Do you know how hard it is to have a house ready for people to come look at it at anytime when you have children? Especially when something like this is almost an everyday occurence. Maybe some of you have been there.

A Good Read

Seth's class does books every so often with different themes. She asks them questions and they respond. Here's a few excerpts from the most recent one. This one was entitled "My Mom Makes the Very Best..."

Ethan's mom makes the best chicken fries. She buys chicken fries from the store. It comes frozen, so she puts it in the oven to make it hot. We eat it after it warms down.

Irene's mom makes the best jello. First she goes shopping and puts the jello in the cart. They make it for us at Publix. When we get home my mom puts cream on top. Then we eat it. It tastes good.

Erin's mommy makes the best pizza. Mommy calls and orders the pepperoni and cheese pizza. Sometimes we get mushrooms on it. Then daddy and Erin get in the car to get the pizza.

Joey's mom makes the best bourbon chicken. First we drive to the mall. Then we wait in line to buy it at the food court. It comes on a tray and we sit at the tables and eat.

Seth's mom makes the best chicken. She buys the chicken at Walmart. When we get home she puts it in a special cooking pot and puts that on top of the oven. I eat it all because it tastes good. (Phew!) (Although he did inform me that it's not true because he doesn't eat it)

Why We Will Never Have a Dog

Lion passed away yesterday. We knew something wasn't right. He never seemed quite right from the moment Santa left him on our dining room table this past Christmas.
We had a little burial service in the yard and Seth said a few words about how he liked doing stuff with him. He started to say play with him but if you didn't know, Lion is a fish and if you didn't know, you can't really play with fish. But apparently you can do stuff with them.
Seth took it pretty well but he did want us to put Lion back in the water after awhile and see if he started moving. He then insisted that he saw Lion move. Today he wanted to go out to the yard to feed him.
I almost teared up and he was sad so it made me want to never have a dog that he would get attached to even more. Plus, they stink and drool all over and don't get me started on the people who let their dogs use my yard as a toilet. Maybe I'll take Ian down to their yard...
So that is why we will never have a dog. No offense intended for those who love dogs. I'm sure yours don't smell or drool all over just like my baby never has a crusty runny nose.
(George(my father-in-law), if you're reading this consider this your warning to never get us a dog like you said you were. You will be in my axis of evil) (And I'm not kidding)

Sethism's

Like Father Like Son-
One night when Brent was laying down with Seth he asked Seth what he was thinking about and he said, "I'm just thinking about how I can do a Dollar Store in the backyard."

He's all boy-
The other day we were driving in the car and he said, "Mommy, I can smell daddy's toots all the way here!" with a big smile on his face.

He's trying to kill me-
When we were making sugar cookies and his hands were covered in flour he said, "Mom, do you want to shake my hand and then lick your hand?"with a big smile on his face. (I can't have wheat flour and he knows it)

He has a knack for technology-
He took a picture of Brent's plumber's crack on my phone and set it to be the picture that comes up when Brent calls me.

New Birthday Tradition

I got this idea from my friend Angela's blog. They have a birthday quilt that the birthday person sleeps with the night of their birthday. There are little pockets on it that have little presents in them when they wake up. Such a cute idea! I made one this year with the help of Brent's mom. I was so grateful she was here because sewing is not one of my talents although I hope someday it will be. And yes, Seth is sleeping in a white dress shirt. Don't ask me why because I don't know. :)

The next night Brent told me to sleep with it since he had some stuff for me. I came out in the middle of the night to find a juicer and this...

My birthday present/boy!

You don't want to know what I woke up to in the birthday quilt. Or rather, Brent wouldn't want you to know. I'll just tell you. I got a toilet seat. Yeah, Brent really struck out this year. I don't think he'll make that mistake again. :)
